After a career as a London Fire Fighter, Allan hopped across the pond to the USA in 2011 where he founded an innovative training programme called Soccer Sounds and Urban cage Soccer which achieved US national attention with its unique approach of motivating and challenging the youth player. Later he became the Technical Specialist of the Philadelphia Union Academy and Head Coach of the Metropolitan Oval Academy in New York.

He has completed 3 very successful and award winning years as Head Coach of University College London and he is now in his first year as Head Coach of Cambridge University.

Hey! My name’s Eshan and I’m really happy to be joining the gang as a volunteer! Brentford FC has played a big role in my life- I took part in one of the Trust’s schemes in Year 5 and instantly fell in love with the club. I have been volunteering with the Trust for almost 7 years now! I’m also a Brentford fan and have been going since the League Two days-oh how things have changed!! I’m always happy to try new activities in the community and am really enjoying the family orientated vibe that Brentford Penguins FC has.

ABOUT

We started our journey as the Brentford Penguins Football Club in 2017 and we have gone from strength to strength. We are our own non-profit organisation and work in partnership with the DS Active and Brentford Community Sports Trust. We found that even though many community football clubs offer pan-disability training sessions, children with DS weren't always given the attention they needed. This is why we decided to start up a very specific and unique football club for any child aged 8+ who has DS. Not only is our club open to players with DS we also encourage parents and siblings to also join in. This has a positive impact on the family as a whole, giving them an opportunity to have something to do together and strengthen their relationships.

Brentford Penguins FC give participants an opportunity to socialise, to make friends and have a fulfilling social life whilst creating a sense of belonging alongside their peers.

Our sessions have improved physical health, emotional and mental wellbeing, strengthened relationships and achieved social wellbeing. Not only this but the players have also improved their communication and teamwork skills which helps with their development and integration within society as well as building on their fitness, strength and coordination.

We are very proud of what we have achieved but we would not have been able to do this without the love and support of our Penguin family.
